The Canadian Sea King fleet has been in service since the mid-1960's. With the
cancellation of the NSA/NSH helicopter replacement program in 1993, it became
necessary for the Department of National Defence (DND) to implement several
CH124 modification programs in order to extend the fleet life to at least 2005.
The CSR Program requires the removal and replacement of major structural elements,
including lifting frames at fuselauge station 243.5 and 290, as well as gearbox mounting beams. I.M.P.
Aerospace is responsible for re-engineering the original design, manufacture and procurement
of the 1100 detailed parts required for shipset kits, and integration of the re-built
fuselauge section into the aircraft.
The CSR assembly is integrated in each Sea King as it passes through I.M.P. Aerospace
on its standard depot level inspection and repair cycle, and in total adds 25 days
to the DLIR cycle. As of July 1999, I.M.P. Aerospace has implemented the CSR program
on 18 of the 30 helicopter fleet.
