Landmark hotel in central Halifax to take on a new look

Halifax, Nova Scotia, (May 5, 2009) - In May 2009, IMP Group International will launch a new independent hotel at their property on the corner of Robie Street and Quinpool Road in central Halifax, Nova Scotia.
For the past 35 years, IMP has owned the hotel and upon expiration of the current franchise agreement on May 24th, 2009 will independently operate it.
“This is an exciting opportunity for IMP to imprint our style on one of Halifax’s landmark hotels,” said Stephen Plummer, President and CEO, IMP Group International.
IMP Group International has been part of Nova Scotia’s hospitality industry for several decades as owner and operator of Oak Island Resort and Spa and CanJet Airlines and welcomes the opportunity to expand its role in the sector.
“An independent hotel provides many opportunities for us to customize our guest experience,” said Joe Gillivan, General Manager of the hotel for the past 14 years. “Our management and staff have wonderful relationships with guests, partners and the community and we look forward to reflecting the best of Halifax in a vibrant, urban hotel experience.”
The new hotel brand will be announced later this month.
