CanJet Airlines announced today that it has taken delivery of two next-generation Boeing 737 aircraft into its permanent fleet. The second aircraft arrived in Halifax at the end of May.
The 737-800 series aircraft have a seating capacity of 189 passengers and will be equipped with a drop-down video system providing passengers with comfort and convenience during their vacation travel.
These aircraft will operate flights from Montreal during the summer and fall months to various southern sun destinations on behalf of one of CanJet’s tour operator partners. CanJet will be adding additional 800 series aircraft late in 2008 and will operate an all next-generation 737 fleet next winter.
The next-generation 737s are fitted with Blended Winglet technology that increases fuel efficiency and range while reducing takeoff noise and carbon emissions.
CanJet is also pleased to announce it recently reached a 4 year agreement with its pilot union, ALPA. Stephen Rowe, EVP and COO stated, “I’m very pleased to see that both the pilot and flight attendant unions have struck fair agreements with the airline this year. This obviously provides CanJet a stable workforce which will enable management to focus fulltime on building CanJet as Canada’s premier charter airline. “
