Major Renovations at Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre

1-Nov-2019

Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre is pleased to announce a major renovation beginning in November 2019. The year-round property, owned and operated by IMP Group, will see updates to its 105 guestrooms, lobby, lounge and restaurant to bring a chic, cozy nautical feel to the resort, while also focusing on revamping the culinary program and growing on-site activities.

“We are excited to continue on our path to being the leading premier 4-star destination resort on the South Shore,” said IMP CEO, Kirk Rowe. “With renovated rooms and common space, guests will be treated to Nova Scotian hospitality, delicious food, and nautically inspired surroundings all year round.”

The nautically inspired guest rooms will feature updated furniture, fixtures and bathrooms, as well as décor from local artists and will offer everything guests dream of in a comfortable coastal stay.

Oak Island Resort will be introducing a new branded lounge and dining room to offer guests a more enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant will offer elevated comfort food in a country beach-house setting on the water with panoramic views. The dishes will be inspired by Nova Scotian recipes using locally sourced ingredients. The lounge will feature an open bar area giving guests a wide range of leading local and international wines, spirits and beer. Visitors will also enjoy a new oceanside event space which will be the perfect setting for weddings and events.

The refreshed venues will be led by Chef Nathan Guggenheimer who joins the team as Director of Culinary to lead, grow and oversee the culinary aspects of the resort.

“Our culinary program will be driven by local ingredients and traditional Nova Scotian dishes giving both guests and locals their new favourite restaurant,” says Guggenheimer. “The local food movement is not a fad - we are embracing what we have around us. We’ll use local ingredients and add our own Oak Island twist - taking them to the next level.”

A former competitor on Top Chef Canada, Chef Nathan has travelled the world developing his diverse skillset and has had the opportunity to work under culinary powerhouse chefs, Daniel Boulud, David Hawksworth and Phil Howard.

As the renovations to the property get underway, the team will also be working on a revamped recreation program that focuses on using the natural waterfront access, large property and year-round on-site amenities, including a new outdoor hot tub. Everything a guest will need will be found on the hotel property.

To help guests enjoy the surrounding area, the resort will offer tours by boat, with See the Sea excursions and by land, with Sea the Shore tours. There will be something for everyone year-round to give an authentically Nova Scotian experience at every touch point topped with signature Nova Scotian hospitality.
